How to get a student visa invitation
Student visa is required for citizens of non-CIS countries, Georgia, Abkhazia, Turkmenistan and the Baltic countries

After order of enrollment you should send scanned copies of the following documents to the SFedU's email address migration@sfedu.ru

The registration of the invitation takes 1.5 months from the date of submission of the documents. The invitation letter will be emailed to you.

Migration registation
When entering the Russian Federation, every international student must fill in a migration card (Purpose of visit - STUDY) and is advised to always carry it during the whole period of stay on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Upon arrival at the university for the first time (no later than 2 working days from the date of border crossing), the following documents must be submitted for migration registration:
The state fee for extending the period of stay (visa-free countries) is 1000 rubles
Following documents must be submitted:

- If you plan to leave, be sure to visit the Migration Office of the SFedU.
- If you change your residence address for a period of more than 7 days, you must register for migration.
- After returning to the address of residence in Rostov/Taganrog needs to provide the following documents...... to the Migration Office of the SFedU for re-registration.

Fingerprinting and mandatory medical examination
Upon arrival at the university, you must receive an application and a notification of the procedures at:

You need to pass following procedures within 90 days from the moment of arrival in the Russian Federation:
The annual medical examination is conducted at the address: 1/3 Yuzhnaya Street, Leninakan village, Myasnikovsky district
The cost of the examination procedure is determined by the medical institution!
The original and a copy of the results of the medical examination and a copy of the passport with a notarized translation must be provided at the following addresses

An annual medical examination is not required for holders of an RVP, RVPO, or residence permit
Visa extension procedure
No later than 45 days before the expiration date of the existing visa, you must submit the documents for its extension in a timely manner!
Required documents:- The original and copies of all passport pages with the stamps
- Original and copies of the migration card
- Original registration with the initial migration registration
- 3x4 photos – 2 pcs.
- Original receipt for payment of state duty in Sberbank – 6000 rubles
- A copy of the training agreement / the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation's specialty document / the original of the certificate of education
- A copy of the health insurance policy
- A copy of the fingerprint ("green card")
- A copy of the medical examination results
- A copy of the Certificate from the Police Department of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on entering the results of the medical examination into the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
- Power of attorney (the form is provided by the Migration Office)

Dear foreign students!
Please note that, in accordance with clause 27 of Order No. 907 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia dated December 4, 2019, “On Approval of the Administrative Regulation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation on the provision of a state service for the processing, issuance, extension of validity, and restoration of visas for foreign citizens and stateless persons,” documents for extending the validity period of a study visa must be submitted for consideration to the Department of Migration of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Rostov Region no later than twenty working days before the expiry of the current visa.In order to ensure timely visa renewal, we ask you to submit the required documents to the staff of the Department for Work with International Students in advance (no later than 45 calendar days prior to the expiration date of your current visa)!
- If there is a documented valid reason for extending the visa (such as illness, loss of passport or other documented circumstances), the required documents for visa extension must be submitted to the relevant authorities no later than the expiry date of the current visa.
- If the reason for the late submission of documents to the Department of Migration of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Rostov Region is late arrival in Russia for valid reasons, then the validity period of the visa at the time of entry into the Russian Federation must be less than the period provided for its extension, i.e., less than 20 working days!
Please take this information into account when planning a trip to Russia for the purpose of studying.
A foreign student is obliged to independently monitor the validity period of the visa and promptly contact the Migration Office of the Southern Federal University for its extension.
During visa extension:
- Departure is prohibited during the visa extension period.
- If the extended visa has not been provided by the Migration Office, the student must independently monitor its validity period and contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
