Program Overview

The master's program has a comprehensive interdisciplinary character and is aimed at providing master's students with advanced knowledge in archaeology and natural science methods applied in its subject area, which allow obtaining substantial and sometimes the most important or even the only information about archaeological objects. Within the multidisciplinary approach, master's students will acquire skills in comprehensive analysis of data from various social-humanitarian and natural science disciplines and the use of this data in historical reconstructions, as well as knowledge of the main natural science methods applied in modern archaeological science, and will become familiar with the experience of their application at monuments from different eras. The learning process includes a complex of online and offline work directions. The master's program has a practice-oriented character, and its concept is built on the practical mastery and theoretical understanding of the diversity of discovered and researched archaeological monuments; increasing the role of historical and archaeological research in conditions of growing anthropogenic impact on cultural heritage objects and the necessity of using the full range of methods, including natural science methods, to obtain the most complete picture of the historical past. Within the framework of the program, considerable attention is given to the practical work of master's students.
