Program Overview
Geologists take the best from other sciences and apply it to the study of Earth. They investigate Earth materials, the properties and structures of those materials, Earth processes and evolution, the history of our planet, and natural hazards and related phenomena. Geological and earth sciences/geosciences largely focus on the physical aspects of the Earth: such as its composition and structure, as a fully integrated system. Geology majors can use their skills to conduct research in the field, coordinate work around natural resources or make maps and charts for use in public and private industry. Training of future specialists who wish to be omniscient in the studies Geology and be highly demanded specialists in the geological sphere.
Program Benefits
Gain the skills necessary to launch your career in industry, teaching or government, or pursue advanced study. The program aims to define a specific area of training for the student and to build a flexible educational trajectory. The program provides inclusive education in engineering geology sphere. Industrial production practice during last years. The practice venues are provided by the program partners and cover the entire territory of Russia. The program is designed to train Bachelors of Geology with the following competencies: Geological prospecting (Geological Survey, Prospecting and Exploration of Mineral Resources); Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology (Engineering and Geological Research Exploration of Groundwater). A lot of laboratory and practical work on the study of geological objects and processes. Geological practice of 1st and 2nd years are held during the summer. Student science fairs, conferences, internships, lectures of leading geology specialists.
Prospects. Career & Employment
Our students can continue their education at Master's Degree and postgraduate studies (Earth sciences). A geology degree sets you up for a career within the energy, environmental or engineering sectors in industrial geology enterprises and organizations. Students will be trained for the future major of Management, monitoring of landscapes and the geological environment using GIS and instrumental methods.
Why is it important to pursue a higher education?
They teach geologists who have created and maintain the country's powerful mineral resource base at the proper level, as well as conduct complex engineering and geological surveys. You can work as: Geologist Government Regulatory Agencies Operations geologist Biostratigrapher Natural Resource Production Conservation Environmental Protection Senior geologist Maturation geologist Stratigrapher Engineering geologist Environmental consultant Geochemist Geophysicist Geoscientist Geotechnical engineer Hydrographic surveyor Hydrogeologist.
