Program Overview
Right now, there aren't really any industries that aren't covered by environmental regulations. Whether it's building, rebuilding, or even shutting down a business, you have to assess the current state of the environment and think about the environmental impact of your plans. Environmental regulations also apply to businesses, so there's a need for designing and environmental documents. You need to get these approved to get the necessary permits from the government agencies that monitor the environment. Another aspect of this is supporting the environmental side of mining, which will be a big part of our economy for a long time. So, there's an increased demand for people who know how to make sure businesses are following environmental rules. These experts can work for government agencies that oversee ecology and natural resources.
Program Benefits
Professionals working in the environment sector are expected to have at least a basic understanding of the issues in their field at the onset of their careers. This will demonstrate their passion for the field and willingness to contribute to creating solutions. The variety of types of potential employment suggests that a modern specialist in the field of ecology and environmental management should be comprehensively prepared to solve various types of tasks, which will undoubtedly help in the labor market. The program is full of author's courses ("Physics of the Earth", "Ecological Geophysics", "Geoecological mapping", "Fundamentals of engineering and environmental surveys", "Ecological and geochemical assessment of territories and principles of habitat optimization", "Ecotoxicology", etc.), includes disciplines in a foreign language: "Geochimie environmentale et sante humaine", "Water Quality Management", "Biogeochemistry". Students will gain extensive knowledge about the structure of our planet, the processes occurring in individual components of the natural and anthropogenically transformed environment, the causes of the formation of major regional and global environmental problems. You'll learn how to assess the impact of different economic activities on the environment here. We'll do a full environmental review of areas, develop designs, including environmental docs, and do engineering and environmental research, among other things.
Prospects. Career & Employment
Our graduates can be employed at state management bodies for nature management and environmental protection as Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology or environmental departments of industrial enterprises. Environmental careers are in high demand, with above-average growth projected for the next 10 years. Make your impact on the planet and find a career that offers sustainability both for your future and the environment.
Why is it important to pursue a higher education?
After educational program students can: Continue their education at Master's program; Work as experts in the sphere of environmental design (development of the environmental part of the design documentation for the enterprises under construction/reconstruction); or specialists in engineering and environmental surveys; or ecologists providing environmental support/reporting for operating enterprises; Most of our students are employed state institutions (university, college) and in research organizations related to the study of the environmental state of the environment. Graduates can become an Environmental Scientist, an Environmental Engineer, a Hydrologist, an Environmental Specialist, an Environmental lawyer, Urbanist-ecologist, Recycling technology, etc.
