Program Overview

Nowadays, it is very important to educate physically disabled people. The FSES (Federal State Educational Standards) consider the educational needs for this group of people. It aims to create special conditions in educational institutions for their learning and development. This includes providing support and helping them full or partial overcome developmental disorders. It is especially important to prepare teachers who are trained to work with children who have special needs.
The training program includes studying core and specialized disciplines, practices, elective disciplines and state final examination.

Program Benefits

The program is interdisciplinary, and the educational system is built on a modular basis. The taught disciplines reflect important key components aimed at teaching students the medical and biological foundations of defectology, the philological and psychological foundations of defectology education. Modules focused on the complex psychological and pedagogical support of educational activities for people with disabilities. During the education students can learn about the work of teachers and special education teachers. These professionals help people with different disabilities. Students conduct research on children’s psychology and methods for correcting and developing people with disabilities.
A defectologist works with people with disabilities. They do two things: they diagnose and treat mental and psychic problems; they prevent and correct developmental disorders. They also do Parent-Focused-Treatment on issues of mental development and appropriate education for children with disabilities.
The program is innovative because it combines different approaches to create training modules. These modules help students develop the skills they need to work with different children.
The educational program is implemented by scientific and pedagogical staff with basic education in the subject they teach. These staff members are also actively involved in scientific and methodological activities.
