Program Overview
Hydrometeorology is all about studying the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and how they interact with each other. It's about understanding wave formation and predicting weather. Hydrometeorologists do research in labs and on the field, both inside and outside. They learn about the oceans, lakes, and atmosphere. Students will study hydrometeorological disciplines in depth and consider various processes in the atmosphere, ocean and hydrosphere, methods of their research and issues of weather forecasting. Moreover, they get acquainted with the basics of related sciences, geophysics, hydrology and agrometeorology.
Prospects. Career & Employment
We train specialists for territorial departments of hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring, academic and industry research institutions, higher and secondary specialized educational institutions, the hydrographic service of the Navy, aviation units, etc.
Why is it important to pursue a higher education?
After educational program students can: Continue their education at Master's Degree. Participation in research teams related to climate research, water resources, ocean research, environmental monitoring, geomorphology. Jobs directly related to your degree include: Consultant / Project Consultant (Statistical Hydrology / Computational Hydrometeorology / Weather Modeling). Our students can be employed as Environmental Consultant, Water resource manager, Meteorologist, Climatologist, Hydrologist, Atmospheric scientist, Geospatial analyst, Environmental engineer, Water treatment plant operator, Environmental policy analyst, etc.
