Program Overview
Hydrometeorology is all about studying the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and how they interact with each other. It's about understanding wave formation and predicting weather. Hydrometeorologists do research in labs and on the field, both inside and outside. They learn about the oceans, lakes, and atmosphere. Students will study hydrometeorological disciplines in depth and consider various processes in the atmosphere, ocean and hydrosphere, methods of their research and issues of weather forecasting. Moreover, they get acquainted with the basics of related sciences, geophysics, hydrology and agrometeorology.
Program Benefits
The hydrometeorology program makes it possible to increase the efficiency of the training process for a specialist in demand on the labor market through the purposeful formation of professional competencies that are in demand from employers and have prospects in terms of further development of the industry.
Integrated approach in research of Meteorology, Hydrology, Oceanology and Climatology combined with geo-informational technologies.
The department has a laboratory where students can get acquainted with the profession of a machine learning specialist and figure out how machine learning experts work, our staff will help you master the basics of the exciting field of artificial intelligence and computer science - computer vision
During the study period, our students can receive additional education in digital technologies, one of three disciplines is offered to choose “Site building", “IT Project Management" or “Applied data Analysis in Python".
Only at our department students will be taught the skills of controlling quadrocopters and underwater drones. Practical-oriented approach of study: detailed system of practices on the equipped bases of the SFedU.
Combination of educational process and scientific research.
Development of professional and personal qualities that are valuable for future employers.
Individualization of learning through elective disciplines.
Prospects. Career & Employment
We train specialists for territorial departments of hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring, academic and industry research institutions, higher and secondary specialized educational institutions, the hydrographic service of the Navy, aviation units, etc.
Why is it important to pursue a higher education?
After educational program students can: Continue their education at Master's Degree. Participation in research teams related to climate research, water resources, ocean research, environmental monitoring, geomorphology. Jobs directly related to your degree include: Consultant / Project Consultant (Statistical Hydrology / Computational Hydrometeorology / Weather Modeling). Our students can be employed as Environmental Consultant, Water resource manager, Meteorologist, Climatologist, Hydrologist, Atmospheric scientist, Geospatial analyst, Environmental engineer, Water treatment plant operator, Environmental policy analyst, etc.
