Introduction to the specialty. Theory of journalism and media communication History of journalism and media communications. Theory and practice of the Russian literary language. Stylistics and literary editing. Specialization of modern media. Fundamentals of advertising and public relations. Organization of communication campaigns. Theoretical and methodological foundations and information technologies in media research and journalistic practice. Foreign literature. History and theory of Russian literature. The technique and technology of modern media.

Specialized subjects

A foreign language for business communication. Professional and creative studios. Methodology and practice of communication activities (informational, analytical, artistic and journalistic activities). Rhetorical communication. Television and radio journalism and new media. The media system of Russia. The media landscape of a multiethnic region. Legal and ethical regulation of media. Sociology and psychology of journalism. Economics and media management. International journalism.

Program Overview

The educational program aims to train highly qualified specialists in the field of journalism. The specific education in "Journalism" is creative and technological. It focuses on changes in the media market and what employers want. It determines both the combination of basic and variable seminars and the modules division of the educational process. The educational program includes elective disciplines such as "Journalist in Print Media", "Journalist in Electronic Media", "Journalist in Network and Convergent Media" and "Journalist in Socio-Cultural Space". They are all considered from creative and technological perspectives. Project-based learning is also important.
The teaching staff are journalists and media managers. Students get involved in the field of media communications from their first year of study. The students also take part in scientific events at the university twice a year. Speakers organize workshops, seminars and brainstorming sessions. During the study students learn about the profession and have the opportunity to complete two internships. These internships allow students to actively participate in the creation of their own media projects.
